Now is the time to celebrate science!

Thanks to support from BHP and BMA, we are offering 20 schools a free, all-expenses paid visit to World Science Festival Brisbane 2021!

World Science Festival Brisbane is committed to creating opportunities for young minds to engage with STEM outside the formal classroom environment with our engaging education experiences.

 

WHAT CAN I WIN?

There are two prize categories:

  • Primary School: a $500 cash grant for transportation; tote bag; and a one-day World Science Festival Brisbane itinerary on 24, 25 or 26 March 2021 (including lunch) for up to 30 students and 10 chaperones.
  • Secondary School: a three-day World Science Festival Brisbane itinerary (23-26 March 2021) including flights, accommodation, meals and ground transfers for up to eight students and two chaperones.

HOW MANY PRIZES ARE AVAILABLE?

Prizes will be awarded to 20 classes – 10 primary classes and 10 secondary classes – allowing more than 480 students and chaperones to take part in World Science Festival Brisbane for free!

HOW TO ENTER

Entry is free, and easy!

  1. Complete the entry form
  2. Pick your preferred itinerary (primary schools only)
  3. Tell us in 100 words or less why your class would benefit from attending World Science Festival Brisbane 2021.

WHO CAN ENTER?

Entries must be made by a class teacher or the school principal.

WHEN CAN I ENTER?

The competition opens at 9am, Monday 22 February 2021 and closes at 5pm, Friday 5 March 2021.

Entries will be judged progressively, so schools are encouraged to enter as soon as possible to ensure a chance to win.

IS MY CLASS/SCHOOL ELIGIBLE?

  • Primary School Category is open to primary schools (Years 3-6) within the Logan City Council, Moreton Bay Regional Council, Ipswich City Council and Redlands City Council local government areas.
  • Secondary School Category is open to high-performing and aspiring Year 10 STEM students from the following BHP/BMA partner schools: Blackwater State High School, Capella State High School, Dysart State High School, Emerald State High School, Mackay State High School, Moranbah State High School, Muswellbrook State High School, Pioneer State High School and Sarina State High School. Students who identify as female and/or Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander are strongly encouraged to enter.

CAN ONE SCHOOL ENTER MULTIPLE TIMES?

Yes! So long as each entry is for a different class.

IF WE WIN, WHAT’S NEXT?

The nominating teacher or school principal will be contacted on or before 5pm, 8 March 2021.

Details of the winning classes (Year, teacher/principal name, school name) will be published on the World Science Festival Brisbane website.

Winning classes must be able to travel and attend World Science Festival Brisbane 2021 during the specified dates.
