Getting to Museum of Tropical Queensland

Museum of Tropical Queensland is located at 70-102 Flinders Street, Townsville.

  • Public Transport

    Catch the Sunbus 1A from the main bus stop on the corner of Flinders Mall and Stokes Street.

    This bus 1A departs at regular intervals from the mall to the Ferry terminal and will drop passengers off at the bus stop located outside the museum on the return journey back to the mall.

  • On Foot

    We are at 70-102 Flinders Street, Townsville. The museum is approximately a 10 minute walk from the Flinders Street Mall. Walk east down Flinders Street Mall until you arrive at the museum.

  • By Car

    Head east down Flinders Street, follow the signs at the roundabout to the museum.

    Street parking is available directly opposite the museum.

  • Individual Needs

    Please give us a call on (07) 4726 0600 if you require assistance, or let us know when you arrive.

    We have a set down area at the front of the museum which is wheelchair accessible, as well as disabled toilets, lifts and ramps accessing all exhibitions levels.

    We recognise the Queensland Government’s Companion Card program, and admit carers free on presentation of appropriate identification.

  • When is the Festival on?

    World Science Festival Queensland is being held in Townsville on 13 – 14 May 2022. The school holiday program will be held in June/July 2022.

  • Where is the Festival held?

    All Townsville events are held at Museum of Tropical Queensland, 70-102 Flinders Street, Townsville.

  • Is it free?

    The school holiday program is included with the general museum entry admission charge. Details are here.

    The activities on the student day (Friday 13 May 2022) are free for school students, but bookings are required.

    Some activities for the general public events (Saturday 14 May 2022) are charged. Details will soon be available on the event pages.
