Discover world-class STEM innovations, from microscopes to robotic arms and high-speed manufacturing and more as part of WSFB’s Labs Unlocked.
The Queensland Herbarium is the centre for science, research and information on Queensland’s ecosystems and species of plants, fungi, algae and animals.
Housing just under 1 million plant specimens, the Queensland Herbarium is one of the State’s most valuable scientific institutions. Botanists and the public continue to contribute thousands of specimens to the Herbarium’s collection each year, identifying new species and adding new distribution records to underpin Queensland’s biodiversity information.
The Queensland Herbarium also undertakes ecological research, producing tools and mapping products to support biodiversity planning and management.
During this session, you will explore the facilities and see the work of the scientists and technical staff who prepare, identify and store valuable plant, fungi and lichen specimens.
Labs Unlocked is presented with support from Advance Queensland.
Lab location: Queensland Herbarium: Mt Coot-tha Road, Toowong, Queensland 4006
