Substation33 is a social enterprise based in Logan City. It was established in 2013 to create employment pathways for jobseekers experiencing disadvantage, through electronic waste recycling, which involves the disassembly, recycling and re-use of electronic products that would otherwise be sent to landfill. Today it is an award-winning enterprise that works with individuals, local and state government, organisations and institutions.
Substation33 helps people develop core employment and life skills via supported engagement and participation in recycling electronic waste in an innovative, safe, strengths-based and esteem building environment. It is also engaged in the design, development and production of innovative engineered products that solve real problems for its customers and partners.
Substation33 has been recognised locally, nationally and internationally as an innovation and community leader through, for example, the Banksia Foundation’s 2019 Minister’s Award for the Environment and ABC Brisbane’s 2020’s Community Spirit Awards.
