Kate Hofmeister coordinates TurtleCare Sunshine Coast, a large citizen science turtle research project operating on the Sunshine Coast. Kate coordinates important research on the critically endangered Loggerhead Turtle in partnership with the Queensland Turtle Research Program. Sunshine Coast Council is developing a Marine Turtle Conservation Plan that will address the major threats to turtles on the Sunshine Coast, specifically, artificial light at night and its impact on orientation of turtle hatchlings.
Kate also delivers successful wildlife management programs that operate at the interface of community and ecologically sensitive areas and leads marine stranding response for Sunshine Coast Council.
Kate is an experienced public speaker and enjoys communicating scientific research and connecting people with nature.
