Brendan Hokowhitu

Brendan Hokowhitu is Ngāti Pūkenga (Māori) from Aotearoa. He is currently a Professor of Indigenous Research in the Office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Engagement at The University of Queensland. Prior to coming to Queensland, Brendan was uniquely a Dean of an Indigenous Studies Faculty in both Canada and Aotearoa.

Professor Hokowhitu is widely published in the areas of critical Indigenous Studies, masculinities, health, sport and film, including being lead Editor of the recently published (2021) Routledge Handbook of Critical Indigenous Studies. He is also the current President of the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association, the largest scholarly Indigenous Studies association in the world.
