Melissa de Zwart

Melissa de Zwart has a keen interest in the intersection between law and technology. Prior to joining academia, Melissa was the Manager, Legal Services at CSIRO, where she advised on protection and commercialisation of technology. Currently, Melissa is Dean of Law and Professor of the Law School at the University of Adelaide. Her research focus is primarily on digital technology, as it interacts with culture, human behaviour and new areas of innovation. Melissa has published widely on copyright, social media, surveillance, popular culture and the legal regulation of outer space and space technology.

Melissa is a member of the Advisory Council of the Space Industry Association of Australia. In 2015 she was Team Leader of the AdelaideX Cyberwar, Surveillance and Security MOOC, which attracted over 32,000 students globally. Melissa is a core expert in the International Space Law group of the MILAMOS (Manual on International Law Applicable to Military Uses of Outer Space) Project.
