Geoff Smith

Dr Geoffrey Smith has researched Australian wildlife for some 45 years and published some 60 scientific works on mammals, birds, reptiles and crayfish. He is employed as a zoologist at the Queensland Herbarium, where he has studied interrelationships between plants and animals, such as how flying foxes move in response to flowering plants. He is currently studying the impacts of recent wildfire in coastal wallum and heath, and strategies that could assist the conservation and recovery of wildlife. Geoffrey has also conducted research aimed at conserving hollow-dependent fauna.
