Paul Van Opdenbosch

Paul Van Opdenbosch is a lecturer and researcher at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Animation, Virtual Production and Simulation. He has spent the past ten years exploring the creation of illusions of reality and mimicking natural forces to give life to otherwise inanimate objects. After completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Animation) he completed a number of diverse creative freelance projects around Brisbane while maintaining an academic position at QUT and a number of research projects. During this time he completed an MFA (Research) in Motion Capture and Abstract Animation.

Paul is currently working as a full-time academic with QUT’s Film and Animation discipline where he is training the next generation of CGI\VFX artists. He has also started a PhD in the University of Queensland’s Institute for Molecular Bioscience, where he will create virtual reality experiences that visualise real-life biological events.
