Paul Bertsch

Dr Paul Bertsch is the Science Leader in the newly established Environment Business Unit at CSIRO bringing together a diverse team of approximately 750 scientists and technical specialists and building enduring partnerships with industry, government, and other research providers to generate the science which underpins sound stewardship of land and water resources, terrestrial and marine ecosystems, and the built environment.

Paul has authored or co-authored more than 300 scientific and technical publications and has been a leader and promoter of synthetic and advanced engineering biology in CSIRO and Australia more broadly and passionate about how advanced biomanufacturing can transform a carbon intense, linear economy to one that is carbon neutral/negative and circular.
