Mark Hamann

Mark Haman is a marine biologist working at James Cook University (JCU) in Townsville. Before working at JCU, Mark was employed by The International Union for Conservation of Nature in Vietnam and the Queensland Government. His current role at JCU is split between research and teaching. He teaches into the marine biology and marine conservation themes, and coordinates the Master of Science in marine biology program. In the research arena, Mark studies the behaviour and ecology of marine turtles using satellite telemetry, and he works to understand how different threats, such as fisheries, plastic pollution and climate change, affect the conservation status of marine turtles. His work overall work integrates several themes and involves collaborations with Government, Indigenous, Industry and Community groups.
