Mark Hamann is a marine biologist at James Cook University (JCU) in Townsville. Previously, he worked with The International Union for Conservation of Nature in Vietnam and the Queensland Government.
At JCU, Mark teaches into the marine biology and marine conservation themes, and coordinates the Master of Science in marine biology program. He also researches the behaviour and ecology of marine turtles using satellite telemetry, aiming to understand how different threats, such as fisheries, plastic pollution and climate change, affect the conservation status of marine turtles. His work integrates several themes and involves collaborations with government, Indigenous, industry and community groups.
