Katie Allen

Katie Allen is a Professor and Public Health Paediatrician who leads the NHMRC Centre of Food and Allergy Research. She leads several large population-based studies (including Healthnuts, Schoolnuts and Vitality) that all seek to understand the cause of the rise in food allergy. Her research interests include infant feeding and nutrition and enabling optimal growth in early life. She is a Fellow of Australian Academy of Health and Medical Science and has been an Expert Advisor to the WHO and US National Academy of Sciences. She recently ran (unsuccessfully) as the Liberal Candidate for Prahran in the Victorian 2018 State Election. She cares about health, education and a sustainable future and sits on a number of Boards in these areas in the not-for-profit sector. She is married with 4 children.
