Justin Marshall

Professor Justin Marshall leads the Sensory Neurobiology Group at the Queensland Brain Institute, University of Queensland, specialising in neuro-ecology. As an Australian Research Council Laureate Fellow, Professor Marshall is an expert in understanding the visual system of marine animals including the amazing mantis shrimp. He is also the founding director of a citizen-science project – Coral Watch – a public awareness and participation group that aims to save the reef. He is an enthusiastic translator of science and has been consultant for various documentary makers including National Geographic, BBC Blue-chip documentaries, and most notably with Sir David Attenborough on several adventures including the recent Great Barrier Reef documentary series as chief science consultant.
