Jacqueline Mackay

After finishing an Honours degree in History and post-graduate qualifications, Jacquie discovered a love of radio work while doing voluntary shifts for the print-handicapped radio station in Perth. This led to more study in Journalism and Media Studies, and entry into the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts broadcasting.

Jacquie was thrilled to be offered a job with the ABC in Rockhampton in 1996, and as her mother warned her would happen, she ‘got stuck’ in Queensland, settling down with husband Peter and in due time two children Sarah and Alexander.

Radio is the perfect job for Jacquie, as she says she has the perfect face for being behind the microphone!
The Breakfast shift gives her a chance to look at some of Central Queensland’s burning issues as well as have a chat with people from across the region.
