Gisela Kaplan

Gisela Kaplan is emeritus Professor of Animal Behaviour at the University of New England, Armidale NSW, and Honorary Professor at the Queensland Brain Institute, Brisbane. She has two PhDs, and an hon. Doctor of Science for life-time achievements. She has authored over 250 research articles and 23 books, many of which have won awards or become bestsellers. Her 2019 books are Bird Bonds and Australian Magpie. Gisela has conducted ground-breaking research into vocal learning, communication and cognition in birds and other vertebrates, and is a significant public voice for science and wildlife, especially birds. In her spare time, she also rehabilitates native birds under licence.
