Colin Mackellar

Colin Mackellar has had a lifelong interest in space exploration, growing up in Sydney during the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo missions, and studying Science (Geology and Geophysics) at Sydney University in the 1970s. After working in exploration Geology, he undertook further study in Theology, was ordained, and is currently pastor of a church in Western Sydney.

Since 2002, Colin has been documenting the significant role Australians have played in the US space program, with a focus on the Honeysuckle Creek Tracking Station and its part in the first human missions to the Moon. To that end, he established www.honeysucklecreek.net. He was also a member of a small US/Australian team searching for the original Apollo 11 TV tapes from 1969. Colin was honoured with an OAM in the 2019 Australia Day Honours.
