Women who are paving the way in science, technology, engineering and maths fields will be celebrated through the third annual Queensland Women in STEM Prize. This statewide competition provides two cash prizes of $5000 to individual females working in STEM careers whose practice has the potential to benefit Queensland.

Queensland is home to many inspiring women who are at the forefront of STEM breakthroughs and discoveries that make a difference to the wellbeing of individuals and communities. World Science Festival Brisbane and the Queensland Government proudly present the Queensland Women in STEM Prize to help continue this trend and encourage innovation.

Previous winners have focused on diverse topics including snake venom, spinifex grass, motor neurone disease, STEM education and diabetes. View the winners of the 2017 Queensland Women in STEM Prize here.

The 2018 Queensland Women in STEM Prize has two categories, the Jury Award of $5000 where a panel of judges will nominate the winner, and a People’s Choice Award of $5000, with the winner chosen by the public.

Winners will be announced on 24 March 2018 during World Science Festival Brisbane.

Applications are open to individual females in the early to mid-career stages of their STEM careers. Applications close at 4pm on 26 February 2018. To learn more or to apply, visit 2018 Queensland Women in STEM Prize.
