WSFQ Gladstone Schools Day is designed to engage students in stimulating and inspiring experiences that showcase careers in STEM, including discussions with scientists, hands-on activities and exciting science shows.
This year students will rotate through Dr Karl’s awe-inspiring science show, and then spend some self-led time exploring the City Of Science, giving them access to hands-on science activities, real life scientists, and fascinating displays.
SESSION 1 (recommended for Years 3-6)
SESSION 2 (recommended for Years 7-12)
Inspire your students with the wonder and joy of science as well as the breadth of potential STEM careers at the Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre on Monday 30 August 2021.
Spaces are limited due to capacity limitations so please submit an expression of interest online and we will get back to you with availability. Numbers may be restricted per school if capacities are reached.
This event is proudly supported by Community Partner Shell’s QGC business.
Joining us for the 2021 event are:
Give students the opportunity to get up close and experience first-hand the different life cycle stages of the Goliath Stick Insect, a local resident of many suburban backyards in South East Queensland.
Students will learn about the microorganisms that cause malaria, the deadliest parasitic disease of humans. You will also learn about malaria in birds, and examine images of bird blood smears. Can you spot the parasites in each image?
