Summary

Tickets to this event are no longer available. This event is SOLD OUT.

World Science Festival Brisbane’s hugely popular annual turtle hatching offers a rare opportunity to witness nature at its finest, while learning about a real-world conservation initiative that has been crucial to the survival of Australia’s precious Loggerhead turtles. Visitors will get a rare glimpse of turtles hatching in incubation chambers and their first foray into an ocean environment in specially designed seawater tanks.

This initiative is designed in collaboration with internationally renowned herpetologist Colin Limpus and Queensland Museum Senior Curator of Reptiles and Amphibians, Biodiversity Program and Chair of the Animal Ethics Committee, Patrick Couper.

After the festival, the newborn turtles will be transported to the Sunshine Coast and released 20 kilometres offshore.

The Hatchery will be live streamed from Wednesday to Sunday. Watch the live stream here.
