AUTOMATED AUTOS: The Future of Driverless Driving and Drones
24 March 2017
Conservatorium Theatre, Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University

Summary

Autonomous vehicle prototypes from Google, Volvo, Tesla and Uber are already on the road and are set to drive you home within the next five years, while ‘consumer’ drones home-deliver dinner and your latest Amazon purchases.

Driverless technology promises increased safety, flexibility and fuel efficiency while we steer towards towards future cities with fully integrated and intelligent infrastructure that connects buildings, transport and devices.

Are we ready to share our roads, airways and personal space with self-flying taxis, driverless vehicles and consumer drones? Will we ever fully trust algorithm-driven transport over human experience and intuition behind the wheel in a crunch situation? It may be best to just sit back and relax because the future is here…and the computers are driving.

Our self-driven panel of scientists, engineers and legal experts explores the ramifications of this inevitable reality and finds out exactly who or what is behind the wheel.
