Each school session will include a Science Extravaganza Showcase that explores cool science careers and mind-blowing science experiments, and City Of Science where students can get up close to exciting science activities and fascinating displays.

In this resource you will learn about the microorganisms that cause malaria, the deadliest parasitic disease of humans. You will also learn about malaria in birds, and examine images of bird blood smears. Can you spot the parasites in each image?

This learning resource has been designed to allow students the opportunity to get up close and experience first-hand the different life cycle stages of the Goliath Stick Insect, a local resident of many suburban backyards in South East Queensland.
