Digging for Creepy Critters
27 March 2021
OUTSIDE AUDITORIUM, Brisbane Botanic Gardens

Summary

Species biodiversity is crucial to maintaining healthy ecosystems – the loss of an apex predator or essential prey species is often the catalyst for catastrophic ecological change.

But conservation attempts often focus on the cute and cuddly. What happens when you are small and ugly – but equally important?

Soil and leaf litter invertebrates are vital to soil health and their impact on plant ecology is only just being discovered. Join us in a digging session as we look at the impact of abiotic environmental factors on soil invertebrate diversity. How many creepy critters can you catch and identify?
