2020 Queensland Women in STEM Prize Award Ceremony (2020)

LEVEL 2, THEATRE - QUEENSLAND MUSEUM

Summary

From quantum technology to bioinformatics, drug discovery, coral breeding and climate change adaptation, Queensland women are at the forefront of scientific innovation.

Now in its fifth year, the prestigious 2020 Queensland Women in STEM Prize recognises the valuable contribution of Queensland women working in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The competition specifically highlights innovation and collaboration within STEM fields and aims to raise awareness to the achievements of women working to make a difference to the wellbeing of communities.

Previous winners are researching the effects of marine pollution on seafood, taming weeds without herbicides and safeguarding the community from diabetes-related blindness.

Join astrophysicist and Australia’s first Women in STEM Ambassador Lisa Harvey-Smith as we announce the 2020 Queensland Women in STEM Prize winners and celebrate the incredible research taking place across the state.

This special event will include an inspiring keynote from award-winning Australian environmental advocate, and science journalist Tanya Ha, followed by a Q&A session.

The 2020 Queensland Women in STEM Prize is presented by Queensland Museum in partnership with Office of the Queensland Chief Scientist, and
BHP Foundation.
