Curiocity Schools Challenge – applications have now closed

In 2022, Curiocity Brisbane will be delivered as part of World Science Festival Brisbane, presented by Queensland Museum Network.

Queensland Museum Network invites Queensland primary and secondary schools to submit ideas for the 2022 Curiocity Schools Challenge. We want your brains and your creative flair!

Curiocity Brisbane Art Installations

Curiocities are interactive digital and physical installations that celebrate the intersection of science, technology, engineering, art and math. Mind-blowing temporary outdoor installations that will transform Brisbane into a playground for the public to engage with and be inspired by the intersection of science and art.

Why enter?

If successful, your school’s Curiocity idea will come to life — specially built and displayed as part of Curiocity Brisbane at World  Science Festival Brisbane 2022. In addition, the school will have the opportunity to take part in the official opening of World Science Festival Brisbane and Curiocity Brisbane.

How to take part

Schools, classes or individual students are invited to develop ideas for an installation that they can build. Remember, the installation can be physical or digital and needs to relate to one or more STEM principles. Only one submission per school will be accepted.

Applications closed on 30 November 2021. Successful submissions will be notified by 3 December 2021.

How many Curiocities will be selected?

Applications from two primary schools and two secondary schools will be selected for inclusion in Curiocity Brisbane at World Science Festival Brisbane 2022.

If we are selected, what happens next?

In Term 1 in 2022, Queensland Museum Network will send a professional artist to your school to help students develop the idea and create the installation (timing of this visit will be confirmed with the successful schools) Queensland Museum will fund the materials to create the installation, as well as travel expenses to attend the opening of World Science Festival Brisbane!
