Peter Collignon

Professor Peter Collignon is an Infectious Diseases physician and microbiologist at the Canberra Hospital. He is currently Executive Director of ACT Pathology. He is also a Professor at the Australian National University Medical School. He is active in many public health advocacy issues, with particular interests in antibiotic resistance, infection control and hospital-acquired infections. He is the inaugural and current patron of the Australian College for Infection Prevention and Control.

Professor Collignon’s research is widely published and referenced in many Australian and International journals with over 250 peer reviewed articles. He is a member of many national and international committees including as an expert to the World Health Organization (WHO) on the issue of antibiotic resistance and the use of antibiotics in food animals. In June 2009 he was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for services to Medicine in Infectious Diseases, Microbiology and Infection Control.
