Peter Bruza

Peter Bruza is a professor of science and engineering, Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia. His current research interests revolve around using the formalism of quantum physics to develop new mathematical models of human cognition. Together with Jerome Busemeyer (Indiana University), he co-authored the pioneering book in the area, “Quantum models of cognition and decision” (Cambridge University Press, 2012), which was nominated for the 2017 Grawemeyer award in psychology because of its potential to “revolutionize the way we think about thinking”.

Peter Bruza is also a zen monk and senior teacher in the Open Way zen school. He has been practicing zen for twenty-five years and is a long-time disciple of Sōtō zen master Hōgen Yamahata of Chōgen-ji temple, Japan.
