Malcolm Smith

Malcolm Smith is an architect and founding director of the Integrated City Planning team at Arup, London. His work is formed around a philosophy of integrated thinking and the recognition that complex urban projects have specific ‘entry point’ issues that lead the direction of change. Some of these projects include Northstowe new town Masterplan, Cambridgeshire; Central To Eveleigh Masterplan, Sydney; Wellcome Genome Campus, Cambridgeshire; Preston Beach new town, Western Australia: Tottenham post-riot strategy, London: Dalian Harbour Masterplan, China; Stratford City Masterplan, London; and Pretoria Central District Masterplan, South Africa. Malcol was also lead designer for the Zuidas district in Amsterdam, and an advisor to UN Habitat and the Gore Foundation. He has been a visiting professor at Yale University, and visiting lecturer around the world.
