Linda Jaivin

Linda Jaivin is the author of 11 books. Among these are seven novels, including her internationally bestselling comic-erotic debut Eat Me and her most recent, The Empress Lover. Her non-fiction includes the Quarterly Essay, Found in Translation; the biography cum memoir The Monkey and the Dragon; and the travel companion Beijing. She is a literary translator from Chinese with a specialty in film subtitles (among the many films she has translated are Farewell My Concubine, Hero, and Wong Kar-wai’s Grandmaster). She made and presented her first radio documentary for Radio National’s Earshot program in 2016, a three-part series on privacy and surveillance called Nothing to Hide. She is also a prolific essayist, cultural commentator and travel writer whose work has been published in numerous Australian and overseas publications including The Monthly, Liberation (France), the Saturday Paper and Qantas’s inflight magazine. She lives in Sydney.
