David Reid

David Reid is a Brisbane respiratory physician with research interests in bacterial respiratory infections. He is currently examining the contribution of specific virulence factors to the pathogenesis of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, particularly in cystic fibrosis (CF) patients. Dr Reid is an NHMRC Practitioner Fellow and a QHealth Research Fellow.

Dr. Reid’s research laboratory at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute focuses on lung inflammation and infection, and particularly the interactions between bacterial pathogens and the host innate immune response in the lung. In addition, his lab is studying the role of iron and other biologically active metal ions in promoting bacterial infection in the lungs of patients with CF and other suppurative lung diseases.
