David Lemalu

David Lemalu worked as a policeman for over 14 years before commencing a LNG Process Operator Traineeship on Curtis Island for QGC in 2017. He was fortunate to be one of only six people chosen from over 900 applicants to undertake this exciting role. David reflects: “QGC’s operations on Curtis Island are amazing – the plant cools natural gas to become a liquid, reducing its size by 600 times, producing Liquefied Natural Gas. This role has really honed my focus on chemistry and physics and offers a great opportunity to put everything I love and enjoy regarding science and maths into practice. My job can be really demanding at times but I love that it combines so many skills – physics, maths, chemistry, engineering, computer science, electronics, building and construction. Oil and gas is a very niche industry but there are a lot of opportunities for growth and development. It also gives you the chance to meet inspiring industry leaders and learn from them
