Chantal Knowles

Chantal joined the Queensland Museum Network as Head of the Cultures and Histories Program in May 2014. A museum professional and anthropologist, her research has focused on Oceania, in particular Papua New Guinea and Canada (Northwest Territories). She previously spent 13 years at National Museums Scotland as Principal Curator for Oceania, Americas and Africa.

Chantal is currently working on an ARC Discovery Project with University of Sydney, ‘Ex-cavating MacGregor : Reconnecting a colonial museum collection’; an ARC Linkage Project with University of Queensland, ‘How Meston’s ‘Wild Australia Show’ shaped Australian Aboriginal history’; and is a Partner Investigator in the ‘Centre of Excellence for Australian Biodiversity and Heritage’ at University of Wollongong.
