Beth Strain

Beth Strain is a Lecturer in Marine Biology and a Project Leader for the National Centre for Coasts and Climate, who works on solving environmental problems for stressed out marine habitats. She decided to become a marine biologist after her first scuba dive in a fish tank on land. Her science career spans the oceans of UK, Europe and her home country of Australia.

When Beth is not on or under the water she can be found teaching STEM subjects to students at the University of Melbourne. In December 2018, she set sail for Antarctica, and together with 79 other inspiring female leaders she studied the art of leadership and experienced the joys of polar exploration. Beth is a passionate conservationist and nature lover who wants to make scientific discoveries and careers more accessible for girls and women.
