Arnold Dekker

Arnold Dekker has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Geography, a M.Sc. in Quaternary Geology and a PhD on Hyperspectral Remote Sensing Of Inland Water. He currently holds an adjunct professorship with the University of Queensland and an honorary professorship with the Australian National University. Trained in the Netherlands, he developed innovative methods and applications using earth observation (EO) for inland and coastal water quality detection, monitoring and management in Europe. In 1999 he came to Australia and developed expertise in operationalising the EO of aquatic ecosystems. Since then, he and his teams have collaborated with many international organisations and universities.  From 2012 to 2016 he was Director of the CSIRO Earth Observation & Informatics Future Science Platform. Over the last few years he has held many senior national and international positions promoting the use of EO for monitoring and assessing our national environment. He has 177 publications.
