Anne Kelso

Professor Anne Kelso has been the CEO of the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) since April 2015. She previously spent many years as a biomedical researcher in immunology alongside other roles, most recently as Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Reference and Research on Influenza and, before that, as Director of the Cooperative Research Centre for Vaccine Technology.

At NHMRC, she oversees the disbursement of more than $800 million on health and medical research each year as well as the provision of evidence-based health guidelines and national frameworks for the ethical conduct of research. Professor Kelso is a member of several government and international committees, including the Australian Medical Research Advisory Board (advising the Minister for Health on the strategy and priorities for the Medical Research Future Fund) and the Board of the Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases.
