Associate Professor Alan Duffy is a Research Fellow at Swinburne University creating baby universes on the nation’s most powerful supercomputers to understand how galaxies like our Milky Way form and grow within vast halos of invisible dark matter that hold it together. He is a team member in two leading galaxy surveys with the next-generation Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder telescope. He is also part of SABRE, the world’s first dark matter detector in the Southern Hemisphere, attempting to detect this new substance.
