Merlin Crossley

Merlin Crossley is an enthusiastic university teacher, researcher and administrator. He trained or worked at the universities of Melbourne, Oxford, Harvard, and Sydney before moving to the University of New South Wales, Sydney, as Dean of Science in 2010. He is now the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic.

Merlin works on human genetic diseases and is focusing on using CRISPR-mediated gene editing to treat sickle cell anaemia. He is or has served on the boards of the Australian Museum, Sydney Institute of Marine Science, Australian Science Media Centre, NewSouth Publishing, and is on the editorial board of The Conversation and BioEssays.
