Summary

Calling all future Einsteins, come along see our scientists in action as they explore the wonders of science in live experiments and interactive demonstrations.

Important Note: Limited capacity tickets will be allocated from the Festival Lab Information Tent one hour prior to each scheduled session on a first-come, first-served basis. All demonstrations are 30 minutes in duration and are free ticketed.

  • 10:30-11am - At the Scene of the Crime

    Presented by the Australian Museum

    Discover the science of forensics with the Australian Museum and find out how a museum is helping fight international crimes!

  • 11:30am-12pm - Friction, Forces and Rocket Science

    Presented by Science Steve, Street Science

    Join Street Science’s own Science Steve and his energetic team who bring physical science to life in this non-stop, action packed science show which will have audiences of all ages on the edge of their seats.

  • 12:30-1pm - Rise of the Robots!

    Presented by The Brainary

    Join NAO the humanoid robot and Sam from the Brainary as they demonstrate how robots can change the way we interact with technology and daily life!

  • 1:30-2pm - Cool Chemistry – Fireballs and Liquid N2

    Presented by Science Steve, Street Science

    Watch Science Steve mix chemicals live on stage to produce crazy colour changes and fiery rapports, followed by numerous liquid nitrogen demonstrations which will have everyone screaming for more.

  • 2:30-3pm - Gastronomy: The Science of Food

    Presented by The University of Queensland

    UQ alumnus, physicist and science communicator Dr Joel Gilmore looks at the world of molecular gastronomy and food science to demonstrate how science is helping us cook better.

  • 3:30-4pm - Physics Fun

    Presented by Fizzics Fun

    Join Fizzics as we explore the laws of physics, including how we can sit on a bed of nails, how to steer a spacecraft, and the science behind explosions!
