Blade Runner [The Final Cut] 1982 M

‘In a decaying, hi-tech Los Angeles of 2019, a former cop is charged with terminating a group of renegade “skin jobs” — genetically engineered androids who have returned to earth from the colonies they were sent to serve.

Ridley Scott’s seminal science fiction opus [adapted from Philip K. Dick’s ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?’] dazzled audiences with its vision of a 21st-century Los Angeles choked by neon and drowning in rain, where real human beings are scarcely distinguishable from androids.’ Film Society Lincoln Center

Mind Vs Machine: What Makes Us Human?  'Mind vs Machine' celebrates a rich subgenre of science fiction cinema that explores the intertwined relationship of humans and artificial intelligence. It focuses on films that investigate what it means to be human in counterpoint to humanoid technologies and the moral implications of artificial consciousness. The program has been curated for the World Science Festival Brisbane by QAGOMA’s Australian Cinémathèque.
